Big Wave Mecca

Sheltered Harbour

Ocean & Mountains

Mullaghmore was just voted as the 5th best big wave spot in the world… heres what the website peace&surf.com have to say about it… Mullaghmore comes from the Irish saying, “An Mullach Mor,” meaning “The Great Summit.” Touted as one of the best big-wave surfing destinations in the world, the village is steeped in history from Celtic legends to IRA bombings. It’s cold, it’s stormy, and it’s one of the most visibly stunning places on the planet. The tallest wave ever recorded there climbed to 67-feet, and was spawned by something aptly named “The Viking Storm.”

But for the rest of the year due to its sheltered location, the sandy beach at Mullaghmore is a tranquil bay perfect for your first few lessons. Even on the windiest, stormiest day, Mullaghmore Harbour can be calm and sheltered and this is what makes it the ideal bases for learning to SUP. Typically we start our first lessons inside the harbour walls and then move out to very calm water at the sheltered west end of the beach. This makes your first launch really easy.

BUNDORAN – SUP Surfing Beaches –
A Mecca of surfing, Bundoran needs no introduction. Voted as one of the top 20 surf towns in the world by National Geographic it is known the world over by the surfing and SUP community. Typically we teach our first lessons on very calm water but if someone has previous paddleboard experience and/or prefers to catch some swell we can arrange to meet at a suitable beach. No matter what the conditions, you’re guaranteed a great time.

BALLYSHANNON: The Lakeside Centre
The Lakeside Centre is 0.5km from Ballyshannon Town, nearest town in south County Donegal. The centre is set at the foot of Assaroe Lake with full access to the water for watersports. Again it is usually a very tranquil setting and ideal for learning to SUP. One of the big advantages of SUPing is that you can enjoy flat calm waters and some of the most amazing landscapes in the world or make it an extreme body workout that is sure to burn the calories.

DONEGAL TOWN: The Waterbus Jetty
Exploring Donegal Bay by SUP is a truly amazing experience. Starting off from the Waterbus Jetty on the River Eske we can take a tour around the many islands in the Eske Estuary. It is abundant with wildlife, flora and fauna.

SLIGO TOWN: Doorly Park

SUP DUDE is completely mobile to guarantee you get to SUP in the best conditions available on any given day. We can come to you if you have a body of water nearby (ocean, lake, or river), but we do have a number of preferred locations that are very safe and favourable to learning SUP
